EBI Databases
EBI Databases The main missions of the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) centre on building, maintaining and providing biological databases and information services to support data deposition and exploitation.
Bioinformatics Databases and Analysis Services
It is probably best to try the Major sites first. Some of the services highlighted in later sections are at the major sites but are mentioned again to help newcomers to the field find their way to the resources. Some are at other sites, or may be at both. Once you reach other sites you will often find they have very good sets of links that help you find more useful services. You will find innumerable other resources via your own web searches using e.g. Google.
Stein Laboratory
This is a Web site run by Lincoln Stein at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. My laboratory develops software for computational biology and genome bioinformatics. Main areas of current research are pointed to by the navigation bar above.
You may wish to visit Lincoln Stein's personal home pages, which contains software and resources that might be of interest to general readers.
Databases for Bioinformatics
The interdisciplinary nature of bioinformatics will require the use of a variety of discipline-specific databases. The following are those used most frequently, but the researcher should also consult the “Databases for Related Subjects,” listed on the navigation bar to the left, to determine other databases suitable for exploring topics in bioinformatics. Databases outside of the Library's collection are commonly used, including the public access and commercial databanks and genomic files, listed separately below.
